DANCE THEATRE

 KILL ‘EM WITH LOVE-
The Fury of Ari Up of ‘The Slits’

A decade since the death of The Slits frontwoman Ari Up, comes a thrilling multimedia dance tribute to her life and work, from KAM-RI Dance Theatre and European partners.

This exciting piece of dance theatre, directed by KAM-RI Artistic Director Kerieva McCormick and featuring former members of seminal 70’s all- female punk band ‘The Slits’, is currently in its rehearsal stage (supported by Creative Scotland, Goethe Institute, Dance Base Edinburgh). The cast and creative team are made up of an impressive array of people involved in this ground-breaking era including: Dub producer Adrian Sherwood (ON-U Sound), former Slits manager and cultural icon Don Letts, Slits member Tessa Pollitt, and more era-defining artists.  Using highly trained dancers, a live band including musicians from ON-U Sound’s powerhouse, live unseen film footage woven into a visual backdrop, and narration, this dance-theatre work tells an exhilarating story of courage, passion and rebellion. Staring Laura García Aguilera as Ari Up.

A special online industry event with key artist conversation was held on 30 OCTOBER streamed live from QMU Theatre, Edinburgh. GUESTS: DON LETTS - BAFTA award winning director and musician, ADRIAN SHERWOOD - legendary dub ON-U SOUND producer, TESSA POLLITT - original member of The Slits.
